Meetingwith Head of EU Delegation to Turkey Christian Berger and accompanyingcommittee, Head of ETO Metin Guler criticized the visa requirement applied toTurkey, the attitude of the European Union's towards refugee problem andterrorist organizations.

Headof Eskisehir Chamber of Commerce Metin Guler met with Head of EU Delegation to Turkeyand Christian Berger and accompanying committee Monday on 12 March.  EU Delegation to Turkey Manager of Departmentof Political Affairs Selda Paydak, Dimitri Karayotov from the RefugeeAssistance Department, ETO Assembly Chairman A. Iskender Bayar, representativesof  Hurriyet, Cumhuriyet, Sabah, DailySabah, Sozcu and the Anatolian Agency attended to the meeting in whichEskisehir and Turkey's relations with the European Union were evaluated.Speaking at the meeting Head of ETO Metin Guler, stated that the Eskişehir,Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce support the efforts of Turkey on the road to be afull member of European Union, in accordance with this mission EU Info Centerunder chamber that works since 2010 and reached 25 thousand people at 102 events center held. Noting that the EuropeanUnion's support for the EU Info Centers has recently declined and that it haslimited in the budget, Guler also noted that the reduction of budgets decreasethe number of events organized.

Guler: "Turkey is doing its part for visa"                                                             

Referringto the visa requirements imposed on the Turkish business world, Head of ETOMetin Guler said that the workers and the goods of the companies working in theEuropean Union are free to move around, but owners and businessmen are stuck invisa barriers. Noting that this shortage is an obstacle to the development ofbilateral trade Guler said that it’s upsetting that Turkey's failure to reach aconclusion on the visa exemption despite fulfilling the requirements of theReadmission Agreement.

Statingthat the Eskisehir Chamber of Commerce is trying to solve the visa problem withits own visa office, Guler said that they have provided a long-time Schengenvisa to more than 1,500 business people. Reminding that The European Uniondoesn’t give the necessary assistance and support toTurkey about the refugeeproblem, Guler underlined the European Union should take tough measures againstterrorist organizations and it should stand byTurkey.

Berger:"Expanding the scope of the Customs Union is on the agenda"

TheHead of the EU Delegation to Turkey Christian Berger said he acknowledged thedemands of the Turkish business world in the visa issue right, that developmentoccurred a few weeks ago about visa problem, EU Delegation officials inBrussels made investigations on the subject. Berger stated that he hoped thatthe visa problem would be improved in the near future and he noted that theprocess has technical aspect as well as the political dimension.Indicating that other important issue is Customs Union matter Berger saidits being talked about broadening the scope of the Customs Union andagriculture must be included to this scope, so Turkey's gross national productwill increase 12 billion euros more. Referring to Turkey's fight against theterrorist organizations Berger said that the PKK terrorist organization is inthe European Union's list and banned from entering the European Parliament.Head of the EU Delegation to Turkey Christian Berger thanked to Head of ETOMetin Guler, he said he is open to cooperation with Eskisehir Chamber ofCommerce.
